It has been announced that Playtech will, on an exclusive basis, be providing Mecca bingo , part of the Rank Group, with a bingo variant based on the hugely popular television quiz show Blockbusters, through Virtue Fusion Alderney. Scheduled for release on 20th July Blockbusters Bingo will be the latest branded product from Playtech, which creates licenced games.

Blockbusters was first screened in the UK in 1983 with Bob Holness as the host. It ran for almost 20 years on different channels and with different hosts. The theme music and several key elements will be included in the game, where normal bingo numbers are replaced by letters which appear on 20 yellow hexagons per ticket.

As well as the standard prizes Blockbusters will also have a ‘1TG’ feature game, the famous ‘Gold Run.’ This will be for all players who have just one to go when the final prize, which could be either a column or a line, is won. In addition to this a Community Blockbusters Jackpot can be won if the first five letters called are B, I, N, Go and O, which can be in any order. Players will win a proportionate amount of the jackpot depending on their game stake compared to the total amount staked by all players.

Angus Nisbet, the Head of Gaming for Rank Interactive said; “Branded online bingo games are among the most popular on Meccabingo.com and I am sure that Blockbusters will be another success for any new bingo sites. Playtech’s Virtue Fusion Alderney has created a fantastic product and I am positive it will strike a chord with fans of the show and be well-liked by new players too.”

Bob McCulloch, the CEO of Virtue Fusion Alderney commented; “Virtue Fusion Alderney has a long-standing relationship with Meccabingo.com. We recently created Britain’s Got Talent Bingo for them which was very well received so we are delighted to have been asked to provide this game as part of their exclusive agreement with Blockbusters.”
