It’s good to share with bingo!

Many people are finding present life a bit of a struggle, so it’s lovely to read of a bingo winner who has decided to share her good fortune. The lucky winners are 2 pensioners from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, and play at Winners Bingo.

The lucky player was 80 year old Joyce Middleton, who had the good fortune to call house in just 42 numbers, and so claim the national and zone jackpot prizes of £23,000. She is sharing her prize with her close friend, 62 year old Joyce Turner. The ladies were particularly stunned as up until now their largest win was a humble £50!

Joyce, who has been a regular bingo player for 22 years, when she lost her husband Jim said; “Yvonne has been a brick since my husband died. Afterwards, she said I needed to get out and invited me to bingo and we’ve been going ever since. We’ve always shared our winnings.” She added “Yvonne was worse than me afterwards, she kept asking if I was alright and she made me sleep round hers that night as she said I wouldn’t be able to sleep. Then, in the morning, she said she had still been awake at 2.45am as all she could think was ‘£23,000′.”

Sally Bowers, the manager of Winners Bingo stated; “The moment she won was wonderful. She got a big round of applause and everyone congratulated her. She’s a regular and a really lovely lady – we couldn’t have chosen a nicer person to win it. When it came to the next game of bingo she was still shaking, but she managed to carry on.”

Joyce has yet to tell her family of her jackpot win, but has said she will treat them to something. She has always shared any winnings with Yvonne, and vice versa, and the fact this win was larger than usual didn’t change a thing. In these cynical times it’s refreshing to be able to report such a story, and we wish both ladies pass their fair attitude onto others.
