Gala Coral gets a bronze in Corporate Responsibility Index

The Gala Coral Group, one of the leading gambling operators in Europe who operate UK bingo website Gala Bingo and own the bingo clubs of the same name in the UK, are extremely proud to have been awarded a Bronze in Business in the Community’s 2009 Corporate Responsibility Index.
The Index is usually seen as the most important voluntary benchmark of corporate responsibility in the UK, so it is a great honour to be recognised by it. The Gala Coral group won it’s award for their leading position on responsible gambling, as well as their award-winning partnership with Sue Ryder Care and their strategy on environmental care.
The Index helps companies in various fields to integrate and improve their business operations, by providing a dedicated approach to managing, measuring and reporting on business impacts in society and on the environment. To gain a Bronze is a reflection of the Group’s commitment to corporate responsibility across all of its business, which includes brands such as Gala Bingo, Gala Casinos, Coral bookmakers and Eurobet. Gala operates both live and online bingo and gambling parlours.
The Chief Executive of the Gala Coral Group, Dominic Harrison, said; “We’re delighted to have been included in the Corporate Responsibility Index for the first time and we are aiming higher as we continue to work on clear corporate responsibility goals. We were highly commended for our strong community partnerships where we have worked hard to raise over £1m for Sue Ryder Care. We also gained accolades for developing our strategy on environmental stewardship, where we have set and exceeded clear targets on carbon reduction.” He added: “Business in the Community also recognised our leading relationships with key stakeholders in the field of responsible gambling which remains an important area of focus for the Group as well as for our transparency on Corporate Responsibility reporting.”
The Chief Executive for Business in the Community, Stephen Howard, said; “I congratulate Gala Coral on achieving Bronze in the 2009 Business in the Community Corporate Responsibility Index. Companies participating in the Index may be at different stages of their responsible business journey, but they have all demonstrated that they take these issues seriously and are leading the field in ensuring this is just how they do business. We believe this is imperative if we are to strengthen and stabilise our businesses and economy.”
